Goodbye, Gram and Gramps

This morning just after midnight, my grandmother, Vera Hathaway died from complications due to cancer. Just over two months ago, my grandfather and her husband, Cleo died while undergoing surgery for his heart condition. They lived long and full lives. Gramps was my hero. He was the best Santa and gave the greatest hugs. Gram was kindness personified. And she made the best cookies. I am proud to be a Hathaway. I am proud to have spent the last year with them as their chauffeur, adviser, and assistant.

Posting to Rat’s Reading has been somewhat sparse since January as their health problems became more severe and my time was required to help. It will probably continue to be sparse for a while. My life will settle down and allow me to read a bit more soon enough.

Cleo and Vera Hathaway cut the cake

  1. Oh no, Philip. I am so sorry for your loss. I’m glad you were able to spend the last year with your grandparents. I’ll keep you and your family in my thoughts.
