Yah! That was a pretty big loose end. I'm kind of in the middle on whether it was good to leave that open or not.

My favourite subplot in the book was about the girl with the severe medical condition and her dilemma about dating a boy. I found that a lot of the book faced self-consciousness head on, and did a pretty good job of working through that journey without hitting you over the head with any major morals.

Tamora Pierce, the author of the Lioness Quartet and some other awesome girl-centric young adult literature, recommended this book as the new young adult book to read this year.

My biggest complaint with this book is, it would've been so much better if there had been a vigilant editor to check plot consistency.

I love that his mom's mystery went largely unresolved.
