Free Books - 8 August 2008

I will be attending a wedding in Seattle later tonight and will not return home until Sunday. My Free Books entries will be taking a two day hiatus. I hope to cover three days worth for Monday’s entry.

Did I say I wasn’t counting? Well I’m counting now. On 20 August, Rat’s Reading is three! Twelve days, though no drummers or drumming. At least I hope not, I need some sleep.

The Stranger’s book editor, Paul Constant, is bringing a stack of ARCs to that publication’s monthly blogger drunk-a-long in Seattle the 14th of August at the Hideout. Show up and get stuff to read.

The August batch of LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers books is up. (This goes in contest and giveaways because it’s a contest who gets these books.) Deadline is 17 August. Highlights include Company of Liars by Karen Maitland, Cul De Sac by Richard Thompson, and Mr. White’s Confession by Robert Clark along with many others.
Boomerang Books has a package of eight books from Wakefield Press to give away deadline 30 September. (open to Australians only?)

General Fiction

Five autographed copies of Horacio Castellanos Moya’s Senselessness from The Elegant Variation, deadline 8 p.m. PST tonight. It’s translated, so you know Three Percent loves it.
Carol Goodman’s The Night Villa at A Book Blogger’s Diary, deadline 26 August.
This month’s edition of the SAK/HarperCollins Book in a Bag contest runs until 28 August. The three books this month are Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ It Had to Be You, Ellen Meister’s The Smart One, and Kimberla Lawson Roby’s One in a Million.
