Free E-Books

• Tor launched their new community site yesterday. To promote this launch, Tor has been giving away a free electronic book, mostly from their backlist, every week for three or four months. Each book was technically available only for a week, though if you kept the links around they often worked longer. With the launch, Tor re-posted all the Watch the Skies e-books (follow that link for the wallpapers they gave away as well) for one additional week:

• I was reminded today that several of Lawrence Lessig’s books are available online for free. Lessig is a professor of law and the founder of Creative Commons, among other things. My blog content is licensed under a Creative Commons license.

• Bookroomreviews joins the crowd with the Hachette 14 book giveaway (five sets total), deadline 9 August. If they get enough participation, they will also give away Stephanie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn.
