Upgrade to Wordpress 2.3.1 tonight

I will shortly be upgrading this site to Wordpress 2.3.1. There may be some downtime. Afterward, things may not work quite as well until I’ve had a chance to work out all the kinks.

When things are done and the kinks worked out, I should be able to start adding at least one new feature to the site, tags. This will allow a couple of features. Easy access to all reviews of a particular author. Also, a lot of the sub-categories that I used to use will come back as tags. The current categories will not go away, however.

Upgrade is complete. New features are not yet enabled. I need to find a replacement for the categories display.

Hacked together something for categories. It’s not as nice as the old wp-tree category display. It doesn’t have some of the pretty hover features that the Simplr theme offers other links, but Simplr wasn’t really set up for hierarchical categories. But it works, and it’s a decent hierarchical display. On the plus side, since it doesn’t use Javascript to display, search engines that don’t use the sitemap will pick up categories better.
